Femtosat / SWARMThe Project was initially conceived by Spacesys and intended to be the first educational space project aiming at demonstrating the feasibility of self-sufficient (power, communications,..) Femtosats, which are nearly cubelike objects with around 5 cm side and weighing between 100 and 200 grams The Femtosat concept, proposed to SSETI- then still under ESA's supervision- to continue their educational project, was incorporated in the SWARM project and taken over by interested University students. However the Project was later abandoned, after 6 months, due to lack of money to keep the team alive. The Femtosat concept is still being considered by Spacesys, waiting for a good opportunity to show its usefulness.
